female circumcision is not accepted in Islam. It is not mentioned in the Qu'ran or Hadith, there is a reference to it by Bukhari (trail of thought by imam) when two circumcised parts 'meet' this has been severely mis interpreted by those in Sudan who are still performing this outrageous practise today. this interpretation actually insinuates a woman is naturally circumcised anyway!

female circumcision is a barbaric act, it is performed by women to young women, these women are uneducated it has become a tradition that deperately needs to change LIKE YESTERDAY!!!

i have studied this subject in as much detail as i could stomach, you would not believe what they do. It is not the men either it is the older women. One thing is for sure Islam does not accept it.

Female circumcision is practiced by certain African cultures. Most of these cultures follow ancient tribal religions and the ones which don't follow these religions follow Roman Catholicism (even though the Catholoic Church is against such practices). There is no connection between female circumcision and Islam, it is not practiced by Muslims and is not legaly allowed in Arabic nations.

Never heard of female circumcision amongst Muslims, unless it's a traditional practice (as opposed to a religious one) in one of the African countries, in which case it has nothing to do with Islam.

It's not. There's no such thing, really, as female circumcision. The name for it is Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), because that's exactly what happens. It's practised in some places in Africa, and is a cultural thing, not religious. The belief is that it 'purifies' a woman and that women shouldn't enjoy sex.
