MY EX WROTE MY NAME AS A CO RENTER AS HER BOY FRIEND.SHE IS IN JAIL IN CALIFORNIA AND THE OWNER WANTS HER MONEY WHICH I DONT HAVE.SHE SAYS THAT LEGALY IM BOUND TO THE CONTRACT BECAUSE SHE WROTE MY NAME AS A CO HABITANT.IM FROM GERMANY AND DONT KNOW VEGAS LAW .I CANT EVEN GO HOME ,SHE(OWNER) WONT LET ME GET MY STUFF UNTIL I PAY.WHAT GIVES? THOUGHT A LEGAL CONTRACT HAD T BE SIGNED BY ALL PARTYS.IF SOMEONE COULD ANSWER MY QUESTION TRUTHFULLY I WOULD APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH.THANK YOU

Just as a cohabitant, no. I don't know Nevada laws,,,check with the State listings for Landlord/Tenant Regulations Department, they should have a listing where you can call a 1-800 number for asking questions. Nothing signed, nothing binding. But you may have to go through someone else to get your things.....good luck!

You can apply for an order to show cause to be allowed entry to pick up your things. Your landlord cannot hold them hostage.

So ... you had NO idea that you were on the lease, and you were just a guest visiting in your ex's home?

You really need to see a Landlord/Tenant lawyer in Nevada about all this. Taking random advice on a message board could prove costly.

It covers provisions for rental agreements (signature or agents signature required) and disposal of items. There could be case law that affects your position (such as if you paid the landlord with one of your checks, you could be considered a tenant and not a guest). Check with a lawyer.

Whether you were a LEGAL tenant or not....It is blatantly illegal to withhold your personal property from you.....Go to the nearest small claims court and request an emergency hearing....most courts have days specific to landlord issues....Don't you have a key? If you lived there, you should have a key....If she locked you out, that is criminal....call the police (non-emergency) number. Even if the police won't help you (which is likely) make them take a report so you can then take that to Court on Monday.

Most states have rules that landlords MUST follow. If you can show that the landlord is breaking the law.....the judge will make her pay you damages. Don't hesitate, go to the nearest court on Monday...You have rights whether you were a legal tenant or not.

im not exactly sure in regards to LAs Vegas Laws, but I know in California A Contract is not Valid unless it is signed or a meeting of the minds is present.

Well you may not be the tenant but your stuff seems to be living there. That may cause a problem
