Charles Babbage considered the father of Computers becoz he invented Diffence Engine and then Analytical Engine, which can store the information on Punched Cards during 1800's ( Year ). Storing of Information on Punched Cards is done by Charles Babbage on those days, this is the reason - why he is so called as "Father of Computers". His sons like Wilkes called Babbage as "Grandfather of Computing". Alan Turing, was however, perhaps more of a fater of computers as he came up with the theory of computation which underlies all computers.

Actually I think Jackard , is the father of computer who has invented Jackard weaving machine where he first utilised punched card method for weaving of thread. Later on this concption was utilised in IBM adding machine and then to computer where 0 & 1 digits are the basis of machine language.

Computer can mean several things, but Babbage is the first to design and implement a programmable computer. Turing and Shannon are other important names.
One should note that the ancient Greeks were likely already building analog computers, but not programmable ones.
