am a student and have an overdraft with Halifax which have had several charges in the past years. I am therefore thinking of transferring my overdraft to another bank. Will I be able to make a claim of the charges when I hav transferred my account.

I t depends.

If you have advised the bank prior to getting charges that you think you may do, they may refund you as long as you get the money in the bank to cover the charge..

But if you have knowingly gone overdrawn and keep doing so every month they will not refund you.

With some banks, if you have never had a charge or have never been charged in 6 months they could waiver fees, you need to read the contract or small print.
