i keep getting emails from the US about stocks and shares telling me recomended stocks to buy on the market. it happened a few months ago, . i tried spam filters, putting dollar signs etc, but to no avail. a couple every day and then suddenly it stopped,. now it has started again and bizarrely it now has an additional text which is some kind of fictional work, maybe an extract from a book? They are usually from personal email addresses, different every time and are about 50k. Anyone know about this and how can i stop it?

NEVER OPEN THEM and NEVER click "Unsubscribe".
There are two types of Spam;
1) Spam that is looking for accounts that are in use.
In this case, ALL the spammer wants is some indication that you looked at the email, because then he knows that the account is active, and he can sell your email address to the other type of Spammer. If you open the mail, it will almost certainly return a receipt so it has done it's job. Some of these guys have dozens of PCs sending out thousands of emails an hour, with Random addresses. So for example, davea@hotmail, daveb@hoymail, davec@hotmail. You get the picture?
2) Spam that is trying to sell you something.
These spammers buy active addresses from the above, then flood you with emails offering different services; If you open one (and it returns a receipt) then he knows you were interested in the product. He might sell this information to other spammers, but anyway, you will be flooded with adverts for fat loss pills, genuine Chinese made Swiss watches, stocks that will make you (or more precisely, someone else) rich over night, or penis extension pills.
Either way, NEVER open a spam email. If you don't know who it is from, just delete it.
As for now, well sorry, you are stuck with it. They might go away if you leave it long enough, but my experience is that they don't.
Sorry about that.
However, once your spam filter is tuned to the spam mails, you should manage to get rid of about 95% of them.

I had EXACTLY the same. I got about 3 a day. Most of them are made up of 'pictures' so you must go into your 'options' in the top right corner on your email page and then select image blocking. When you receive emails with images you can opt to view the images by clicking a 'view images' button on the email. When you get this crap you do not open the images and therefore they are forced to assume that the email address is no longer valid. That is why some of them have gobbeldy **** as a way around this. When you get the ones with the gobbeldy **** then do not open them, instead read all your other emails then select 'empty' next to your inbox or spam folder and empty them untouched. This will achieve the same. About 2- 3 weeks you will be free, I haven't had any for about a week now. Blocking them doesn't work as they are all different senders. Twats. They probably think they can move the markets like this.

It's just spam.

Delete, ignore or use Filters to try and block them.

"Stock Market" spam has made a comeback in the last couple of months. In a few months that will pass, and a new form of spam will happen promoting a new product. (I have a feeling pharmaceutical spam, but still seeing a lot of it at the moment, so doubt it will increase).

I get these too......... from what I gather it's usually done by criminal gangs trying to make a quick buck by trying to drive up the share prices by getting as many idiots gullible enough to fall for their e-mail as possible and start buying the shares (which put the value up).

One of their usual tricks is to put the text of the spam message inside an image displaying in the e-mail so spam filters can't detect it, nor does it make it easy to report the e-mails at http://www.spamcop.net

I dont know what that could be.If you have tried spam filters and they have failed to work, then you probably signed up for them unknowingly.Try to look for an unsubscribe link inside the email, and try unsubscribing.

Good luck.

One Rachel Long mails me everyday and asks me to become a millionaire just by doing nothing. And one Sara Frdder says she is a clairvoyant and sells magnetic pictures of herself.
