Well, we can travel in time , according to the special theory of relativity if we go a speed closer to that of the speed of light then the traveller's mass (weight) will increase dramatically, the size of the traveller will be smaller and the traveller's time will slow down dramatically. So that means we are going forward in time! If the traveller's time will bre slower then that means the original time will be faster than that of the traveller's time which means we can travel to the future. For eg. If we travel to space in the speed of light for 10 years and when we return back home then we'll find out that that already 200 years or more have passed! Well there are'nt any way to travel to the pass but I think you can travel by going in side a black hole because it sucks space-time(which means it also sucks time with)but I think you should'nt try this at home.

Maybe one day we can do it ourselves, but apparently Sandia Labs in Alb., N.M. and NASA have been working on a time machine. I have put this question out there before on this site, and the answer I have gotten is that it is impossible with the present tools available to us. However, I am not that advanced, so I don't know. The Government can be working on secret things that you might be surprised what they are coming up with. Also, remember, Los Alamos, which is just down the road from Albuquerque, N.M. came up with the atomic bomb not so long ago. Sandia Labs is a similar type facility, so not much telling. . . We may not hear about it until many years however if it does get invented. Did you see the movie "Contact", it would be something like that, the two dimensions would be side by side, like the String Theory. We could go to the future, past, or present, but we would live in one and visit the others. There is a website that explains this, which I just asked for opinions if anyone reads it, http://www.johntitor.com/. It is interesting reading from an actual time traveler. I would like to know what you think about what he says, if you are interested in bringing up that website. He even shows the inside of the machine he traveled in, so it is entertaining, and who knows, might be true?

Honestly, i would say no. If we can travel in time can you imagine how screwed up our life will be.
Picture this, you're walking along the road, and suddenly, you fall dead. Why? Some nut, travelled back in time, took a vehicle and happened to flatten you while driving. And since you were killed in the past, there's no way that you can still be walking around living.
Or the opposite, you happen to travel to the future, and you saw yourself getting killed, then you try every nook and corner, to avoid it, but the future since its yours, is set, so you live the rest of your days, up to the point you get killed, in pure misery.
To invent a machine for that purpose i think is still too far a technology for us, how bout we try getting to pluto and back before creating a machine for time travel. Or better still, fix our lives now, then trying to fix our future. =P

a famous scientist once said
'science clears the field on which technology builds'
so the physicist would discover the means &techies would build the machines. though achieving c seems hard work is on & 1 day iwill time travel &edit the answer.
a limerick to end-
there once was a girl named ms. bright
who could travel much faster than light
she departed one day
the einsteinian way
& returned on the previous night.

Neither. You can only tavel in the present and not go backwards into the past or forwards into the future. Time machine isn't possible for can't control time-would have to control the turning of the earth itself to control time-can't be done by man.

We are travelling in time - as we fly from Delhi to London we adjust our wrist watch on landing - this is also traveling in time. -
invension of time machine is - useless for us - as traveling in a time machine will convert us to energy wave - that travels firster then light - and we will not be - human beings to understand any thing. - energy does not have a mind, emotion or thinking and understanding.

time travel is impossible.
Time dialation is...that is traveling at the spped of light and time slows down for you. Dont believe those who say that is like traveling into the future because if it was, you would be able to see your future self.
traveling into the past is impossibel because it creates a paradox.
what if you went into the past and stopped yourself from going into the past when you got there?
cannot be done.

Yeah, if you go back in time a do something like accidentally kill your own parents before you were born, then how could you exist? You basically alter history. That's why I think time travel may not be possible.

Of course you can travel in time, just relax on your bed, close your eyes and THINK about the past, there you go, you traveled in time!

Yes, using time dilation and accelerating near the speed of light your "time" will slow down dramatically and you will in effect travel into the future.
Unfortunately you cannot return to this "present" to tell us about it.
