The word "avionics" means aviation electronics. As aircraft become more reliant on electronics and computers, avionics (from aviation electronics) becomes more important.
Avionics technology programs prepare individuals to work with airplane electronics systems, as well as in a wide variety of related fields, including electronics technician, equipment manufacturer, public safety employee, or communications specialist.
