Depends on what you're cleaning off. If you're attempting to get rid of imperfections or bits of other rock attached to the diamond, then you'll have to grind it off. If you're trying to polish it up because it's been scratched or just not properly poslished, you'll need a good aluminum oxide polish (or some other polishing abrasive) and a polishing lap. Or you can go the economy way and use toothpaste (which is basically just a polishing abrasive), but I can't vouch for the effectiveness of that method.

If you're just removing things such as dopping wax, or whatever else you may have gotten on there, just use acetone. It'll dissolve any plastic or wax (or whatever) you have on there, and it won't hurt the stone: diamond is remarkably resilient stuff.

Hope this helps.

There are diamond cleaner solution at most stores, but if you don't have time and money , a quick way to get a really good sparkle is to get your water nice and hot. Run the diamond under it for a few seconds, then get a tooth brush and some tooth paste. scrub the diamond in every direction. and then run it under the water again to get all the tooth paste off. dry it with a cloth, and make sure all the paste is off. It will polish it shinny.:)
