This is actually true. Windows XP, like most current OSs, is a 32 bit Operating System. This means they can only support a total of 2 Gb. of RAM. There are some tweaks you can do with the software and hardware and maybe make it recognize more than that but that would be too expensive to be worth it. 2Gb should be more that enough for any game. However, if you think you need more, look into getting the 64 bit version of Windows XP. 64 bit OSs support an unlitimited amount of RAM.

some motherboards have a setting that allows you to run 4GB. however i spent big $$$ on my hi end gaming machine i run 2GB of PC3200 and have the graphics at max settings and runs smooth. in the future (2 years or so) there will be a need to run that much but for now just save your $$$ till it's necessary

Never heard of XP rejecting any amount of RAM.If you want to improve your gaming experience,just get yourself a 5GB graphics card.
