All my life I've always thought that my nervousness is completely different to others. My voice shakes noticeably; I hyperventulate or something like that. How do I help myself? Is there any surgery that would take a gland that causes nervousness? Please don't say take a public speaking class because it's not going to work!!

Nervousnesss is partly physical, partly psychological. You have trained your whole life to be nervous...learn to untrain it.

Some take tranquilizers for the physical part, for the part in your head, get some self-help books. See amazon.com and search for nervousness....

What is the source of your nervousness? There is a lack of information here about what causes you to be nervous. If it is part of your job, or something that happens EVERY TIME you come in contact with ANY person, etc.
Inhibition to communicate is not an uncommon thing. It is tied into being shy, but a step further, where you CAN communicate, but you do so as if the total spotlight were on you.
You must convince yourself that you are NOT the center of attention at all times, and everyone is NOT scrutinizing you as much as you think they are. Because, believe me, they aren't.
One hint I use that I heard long ago when speaking in public to large crowds, if you're nervous.... is to bite your tongue. Not too hard, just enough to draw your attention away from what they might be thinking. Biting your tongue also stimulates your saliva glands, which can instantly cure dry-mouth in those situations.
But the first point is to determine when and why you get nervous. Put everything into it's separate catergory and rank them according to how nervous they make you. Eventually, you will undermine the situation and how it makes you nervous, as opposed to you putting it in it's place, so to speak.
You CAN conquer this - you just have to want to - and you have to see when, where and why this thing happens.
Look closely.... you'll get your answer.

It's natural to be nervous. Everyone of us will be nervous whenever the surroundings are new to us.

I do tremble when i speak infront of my class. My voice would also shakes when i do something public.

I advise you to take surgery as the last resort. Okay, here's some way to try to get rid of your nervousness.

(Before that, ask yourselves, when do u appear to be nervous?)

If its only infront of newly faces, or in the public, it's natural.

It's on the stage, try to practise whatever speech u have over and over again, pretend every rehersal as the real performance. So on that day, you wont be nervous as you've ald adapted to the place and people.

If it's when u speak to new friends, tell yourselves that all of them likes you, even if u make mistake, you don have to feel embarassed, coz they'll make their mistakes too.

Practise makes perfect. =D

Good luck!

Be brave. I used to be really nervous and scared around people because I always felt like they were expecting something out of me. But then when the end of the day came I would sigh in relief. You see? Everything passes with time and nothing can last forever. The day only has 24 hours. . .its not like their going to stop.

No no surgery would ever change how you feel, you need to see a specialist to teach you how to have more confidence, yup thats all you need. I also suspect that there are pills that might help, make sure you know the disadvatages like weight gain etc......
Good luck

I highly suggest meditation, or at the least yoga breathing--just a simple deep-breathing technique that anyone can do that begins to relax the body almost immediately and the mind soon after.
