Goldfish CANNOT live in bowls. Goldfish require 10 gallons PER baby/juvenile fancy goldfish(fantails, orandas, black moors ect), 20 gallons PER long bodied goldfish (comet, common, shubunkin)
They have a lifespan of 30 plus years and grow to lengths of 12-14 inches, and they DO NOT grow to the size of the container or tank they are in.
That poor fish is slowly dying from the ammonia the fish excretes. Its burning his gills. You need to clean that bowl EVERY DAY if you want to keep that fish alive and you need to get it into a larger filtered tank NOW! Or find another home for the fish where it will get the proper care it needs since you admitted you dont have time for the fish now.
Why the hell do idiots get pets if they arnt going to properly care for it?!!!!

If you dont want them to become sick, then lose the goldfish bowl, and get a real tank. Gold fish bowls are so bad for goldfish. They are supposed to live for at least 10 years. In bowls they live for 2years-if there lucky. Each goldfish needs about 15-20 gallons by the time they are adults. I reccomend buying a 40 gallon tank, with a filter, bubbler, gravle, and decorations. Then, there tank will look a lot better. Goldfish are dirty, and bowls are really small. Here is a website that tells why bowls are bad: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art3503.asp p.s. there are feeding directions on the back of most fish food bottles!

Goldfish are just diry ... they poop a lot and probably won't fare well for long in a bowl without filtration ... plus, if there's not an airline circulating the water, gasses can get trapped in the top of the bowl that can make things toxic for them. Feed them only how much they can eat in 5 minutes, no more than twice a day. And, there's just no getting around the neccessity of cleaning the bowl more often under the current conditions.

Aww... In the simplest scenario, if you feed too much, food being pushed in the front end of the "tube" pushes food out the back end ... before it is fully digested. If your goldfish's poops look just like his food, this could be an indication of overfeeding.
A common recommendation is to feed goldfish two mouthfuls twice a day. I was troubled for a long time about what is, exactly, a goldfish mouthful. I believe it is as much as a goldfish will take in its mouth before it stops "gobbling" and starts chewing. Determining the correct amount of food for your fish is then relatively easy; toss in units of food until everybody stops chasing and then figure about double that for a feeding. This actually ends up being quite a bit of food.
It has been suggested that goldfish are naturally grazers, eating small amounts continuously. It does seem that goldfish have fewer problems with many small meals than they do with one large one per day. So, if you can conveniently do it, a regime of one mouthful four times a day will be better that two mouthfuls twice daily. And, conversely, feeding four mouthfuls in one feeding will probably give you problems.

Goldfish are filthy fish and need a very good filter on their aquarium. One that cycles the water through the filter at least 5-6 times an hour.

Most feed their fish once a day, and it all depends on how many fish you have. They ALL poop. Yes the more you feed them the more poop your going to get. Also the long you have them the bigger they will get, and thus MORE POOP. Some people get those animals that keep the tanks clean. But you will need to have a tank that has a filter and air bubbles for oxygen in the water. Goldfish swallow air from the top of the water, so they don't need bubbles. good luck :)

Goldfish are just nasty fish.They **** alot.But
you may be feeding them too much.It only takes a tiny pinch of food once a day.If they happen to die anyways then next time buy a
beta fish. But only one because if you put two in the same bowl they will fight until they kill eachother. If you do get one hold a mirror in front of it and watch how mad it will get.It
will think it's another fish.

Actually, goldfish are just very messy fish. Most people think they can live in bowls but they actually need tanks with filtering systems. If you want a fish that can be kept in a bowl, try a betta. I have 2 and they're very low maintenance.

I had a goldfish once and it does that a lot. Just dont mind it. I dont really think you can feed it too much and if you do it, then it will be evident by the huge cloud of food floating in the water.

once a day should be plenty for your fish but you really do need to change your water at least twice a week
