I am an Avon Lady.

I went to deliver to a customer last night. She wanted to return a Lip Balm because she realised it contains alcohol, and as a muslim she does not allow any alcohol to touch her lips.
Realising that in her order were lipsticks (which she has used in the past) we read the list of ingredients, and discovered that they also contain alcohol. (Oops!)

Does anyone know what the "rules" are regarding muslims using such products????

I think your customer was "confused". Basically it boils down to the difference between "rubbing" alcohol and "drinking" alcohol. Alcohol in the form of "booze" is "harem (bad)".
Rum cake would be out of the question due to this.
However RumSpice (color) lipstick which contains alcohol (non-booze) product should be ok.

I am Muslim, and also an Avon sales rep. I have been using lipstick since I was 15 years old and i'm 25 now!

this is the first time i have heard about someone not wanting to use a lipstick because of alcohol in it. I wonder if this lady uses perfume? shampoo? so many things with use in our everyday lives have alcohol in them - as muslims we are not allowed to drink alcohol, but this is all new to me.

I am a muslim and i think that she may not realize that all lipsticks have alcohol. Or it maybe she just wanted to return the item the easy way.

My family isnt that religist so i didnt know about that. My mom uses lipstick all the time

Your customer was right about Muslims not wanting alcohol to touch their lips.
But, don't these alcohols change into other products when they combine with another chemical? That's what I used to believe, but I ain't really sure.
I wish that idea was clarified.

I have got a friend who is Muslim. He says that in his religion drinking alcohol is forbidden not using it for the other purposes.

pig products no, depending on how insane they are all animal products that haven't been killed in a cruel and painful way using halal methods
she is being pain full , because she isn't ingesting the alchol and it would evaporate off the moment it come to body heat temperature
