hello fellow canadian. i'll be honest.. 80% is not good enough for stanford.. your extra cirriculars are non existent.. i'd say work hard in gr 11 and 12 and pray that waterloo or queens are nice enough to accept you.

Btw i had a cummulative 94.3 gpa in all years of high school and got into stanford but rejected at brown, and dartmouth. i dont know if that helps

also btw stanford is a private school, the tuition is the same regardless of your place of residence

as far as your question.. about an upward trend.. yes they concentrate more on your gr 11 and 12 but 80 is not a good avge for grade 9 and 10.. were there extenuating circumstances??

how to make your activities count---- i would say the best way to do that would be to found a club at your school.ie debate, helping the needy, school newspaper, etc everyone is going to be a club president.... make yourself unique

Not to be harsh, but unless you have some hidden talent you are not telling us about, I don't foresee good chances here. You will be up against many many students who can spell extra-curricular correctly, for one thing. Moreover, your grades seem too low. And while I am sure they will be happy to know that your grades have improved, when you are competing with students who have had good grades four years in a row, that may not be much help.

Regarding cost, Stanford is a private university so it doesn't matter if you are in-state or out and whether you are an international student. Actually, precisely because it is not a public school, you will have more chances of obtaining funding than if it was a public school. Scholarships at Stanford are likely need-based for the most part. Most people they admit are very strong so awarding scholarships on merit doesn't make sense.

I guess one possibility for you may be if you excel at some sport that they have there. Often athletes are admitted with lower academic scores than others.
