do you need a car to live in south lake tahoe?

i am thinking about moving from san francisco to lake tahoe, will i need a car to to live there or is there a decent transportation system. and should it be easy to find a job in the food and beverage industry?

you dont need a car. there is not a good transporation system, but it is entirely possible to live there without a car.

I think it really depends on where you live up in Tahoe. My parents live in Tahoe up by Myers. It would be rather difficult to get around from their house. However, if you live along 50 there is teh Go Blue bus and in the summer there is a trolly (really cheep) that runs up and down 50 all day and most of the night. However, winter is pretty cold up there so having a car is nice so your not outside waiting on transportation. Taxis are available...b ut they aren't always the easiest to come by (its not Vegas where they wait at every casino... mainly because all the casinos are so close together) and they are pretty pricey. Also, having a car is nice if you want to go to Reno or Carson City. My parents do very little shopping in Tahoe, they go over to Carson to Costco and Wall Mart (its the kins taht has groceries and everything else). There isn't a bus or anything that goes to Carson.. there is a bus that goes to Reno airport... so if you wanted to go to Reno for anything taking that bus is pretty reasonable. As far as looking for jobs.... the paper if FULL of job opportunities. The casinos are ALWAYS hiring. Of course there is other options then just the casinos... but that a good place to start looking.

you need a car. I live close to there and I go up there for camp every year In fact, i live in a town very close to SF. It should be pretty easy to find a job in the F/D industry. Look up lake tahoe on google and it should give you some more answers.
