i've about given up on trying to see anything in a theater anymore. every time i go, people (usually white trash teenagers) are talking, yelling, throwing stuff, getting up and running around, or generally being ulcerated sphincters. i have no idea why it happens, but it seems to have become much more prevalent in the last couple of years.

is your theater experience the same?

lord yes.
the older i get the less tolerant i get too (im 34 so god help people when i get into my stride!) im always telling people to hush up. worst things:
talking at regular volume or stage whispers.
eating sweets that need unwrapping
eating crisps, i mean, crisps for crying out loud
chair kickers
people who say "i love this bit, watch this bit now" grr
basically anyone who doesnt keep completely silent - actually, maybe IM the problem! nah, that cant be it
heres a thought, lets make a cinema chain for people who actually want to WATCH THE FREAKIN FILM!!!!
ooh im all worked up now. im going to lie in a dark room til i calm down.

Yeah, I live in Singapore(an asian country). Though we asians are more conservative then the rest of the world we will get these kind of problems as well. A lot of teenagers when watching some teen flick or with their favourite stars on screen they will become a tag to rowdy. And in these days and age, at every movie that i'll go to, there will be bound to have one or two cell phones going off during the movie. My suggestion is to watch movies during the off peak periods like mon-wed. The best would be monday mornings or afternoons. Once i found myself to be the only one in the cinema. Man! i enjoyed that movie experience!

Definitely, people have no respect for the idea of cinema anymore, it used to be a fun experience now its always where to sit as someone will sit in front of you, walk in halfway through the film and disrupt everyone, throw popcorn, talk through the film, its always dirty etc!

when i went to see Pirates of the Carribean 2, we were over run by little Irish travellers, they were only about 6 yrs old and totally unsupervised til 10 mins to the end of the film, when whatever trash came to pick them up and waited at the back, talking in normal voices. why is it so difficult for travellers to have any respect or teach any respect for anyone but themselves?

Thankfully,no. (And i'm in the nyc area!) Your's does not sound like the best movie going experience. Have you tried "shopping" around, trying different movie theaters that have a better behaving clientele? (if your budget allows)

i find if its a pg or 13 rated film its with little kids in groups thinking they are funny i went to see harry potter and had a group of 4 boys behind me thinking they were funny saying racist remarks about actors etc i just turned and stared at them then got back to viewing, they shutup .To avoid idiots pick times when its late or if cinema has side seats sit there and the higher rating films helps .

Complaining gets them thrown out.

I think the worst one is the guy whos phone goes off, answers it by saying he cannot talk he's in the cinema, then has a ten minute conversation.

Yes I agree, but not kids so I have no tollerance.
