I started small and worked up. There was a few years there that I didn't ride at all. Not because I was scared, just never went to a park. Then we got some tickets from work. The strangest thing happend. I got nervous thinking about going on coasters that I had been on dozens of times. All of a sudden my mortality was in question. Do some research and you'll see that roller coasters are extremely safe. Engineers look over those things very closely every day. The rides are designed to be safe. Amusement parks can afford a law suit! Remember that. Anyway ... here's a website to consult http://www.coasterquest.com/coastersafety.htm
Have fun.
By the way, with those free tickets we went to the park and rode all the coasters. Felt like I was 14 again.

At first I was afraid of rollercoasters because I had never been on a real one. Then I went on a huge loop that went forward and backward. I was creeped out. But when I got off, I realized that I enjoyed it more than anything. Though I am a bit hesitant when ever I see a loop, I am no longer afraid of them.

I disagree with people who say to "close your eyes while riding a roller coaster."
Keep your eyes wide open; then you will be able to brace yourself in the proper position when you're coming up on a sudden turn or drop on the coaster track. Obviously, this would be impossible if you're riding with your eyes closed.
My best advice on how to ride a roller coaster?.....While screaming at the top of your lungs! (and I've ridden over 100 of them!)

think like THIS:
do life, never regret, because you wont die on a roller coaster. Nothing will happen to you. plus the adrenaline rush afterwards is amazing!
you cant ride rollercoasters forever, so try to savor the moment

As a person with many phobias.... I will say that the best way seems to be to start with small coasters, and only go up to the faster, bigger ones as U feel comfortable with each step up.
Good luck to U. : )

My parents made me go on one. After that, I couldn't get enough of them.
Of course now I'm 34 years-old and can't ride them anymore because I get way too dizzy. I never had that problem when I was younger. Getting older sucks.

I started riding them at Cedar Point this May. After a while.. I got so psyched about riding them all, I couldn't stop. I hated them before. But now I LOVE them.

Well if you are really scared, I advise you not to go. Thats because you might have some serious health problems if you go on a ride that you are really, really scared of. But if see a ride that looks a little bit scary, go. You might have the time of your life!
