The patch is good, you just stick it on your thigh, butt, arm etc once a week, and it stays on throughout the week and releases hormones into the body. There is the nuva ring, which is a little 'ring' of rubber-plastic that contains hormones, which are released when the ring is inserted into the vagina and left there. You can have sex and stuff, and you change it out I think once a month. There is the shot (depo provera) but it's not reccomended - it can cause depression, isn't that effective and means having a needle jabbed into you once a month! There is the IUD or copper coil, which a doctor will fit for you. Insertion can be quite painful, and you may have some bleeding, but it prevents pregnancy internally and is almost un-noticable. The implant is getting more popular, it's a small tube which is injected under the skin and releases hormones for a year, which means no taking pills, and therefor no forgetting to take pills. You could try the cap, which is like the top half of a condom, and gets put on top of the penis,or the diaphragm, which you insert into yourself. It's like a disk of rubber which prevents the sperm getting up, as they get trapped. You will need to be measured by a doctor for this, and there is a factor of having to insert it a few hours before sex, which I think causes a loss of spontineity. However, it is hormone free, which is something you were looking for. The thing is, when using a hormone-free method, most doctors will tell you to use spermicide, too. You might try spermicide along with the rhythm method, where you track your cycle and then have sex when the chances of pregnancy are least, but be aware that this is not very effective. Similarly, there is the withdrawl method, where your partner pulls out of you before he ejaculates, but since most guys pre-ejaculate slightly (semen leaks out of the end of the penis) this is also quite ineffective, so it would be reccomended you use another method of contraception alongside it, such as spermecide.

The Nuva Ring is very effective, more than the pill. It has very LOW hormones, and is easier than the pill. Only having to worry about it once a month means less human error factor. The Mirena is also really good, but only recommended if you have had a child before. Mirena is THE most effective form of birth control, its equal to sterilization, but non-permanent. It also uses very low doses of hormones, and also protects you from pregnancy by thickening your cervix and thining your uterine lining, so you are protected 3 ways, and also there is no way you can screw it up like the pill, patch, condoms, etc. Fertility returns to normal immediately when you get it removed, so you can have kids anytime you are ready, but in the mean time, its very effective against pregnancy and can even lighten your periods significantly. Talk to a doctor about your options, but DO NOT get on Depo Provera, aka: the shot. Its a completely obsolete form of birth contol, ineffective, unsafe, and just not that great. You can also try things like vaginal foam. Its best if used with another form of birth control though. The best things are though, nuva ring, if you have never had a child, and mirena if you have. Best of luck! And remember that nothing is 100%. So be sure that even if you are "safe" you are still willing and ready to raise a child just in case.

if your partner wont have a vasectomy then i recomend an IUD if you get the copper one {which is a little more expencive} you wont get any side effects. like anything there are still dangers eg. eptopic pregnancy, it could move and relodge itself some where else in your body in which case you'll have to have an opperation to remove it.
there is zero chance of falling pregnant.
iv had one for the last 3 years and iv never had a drama.
