The divorce % quoted seems to be incorrect. Divorce does not necessarily show unhappy state (may be diverse views, tastes and attitude). When marriage goes along or continues does not necessarily imply "Happy family life" There might be adjustments.
Increasing % of divorce may be attributed to fast pace of life, increasing desires and aspirations and equality of gender. Couples have become masters of their own destiny.

Because of the fact that people have a hard time practicing fidelity in the modern world. If it's religion then yes its a big fact that the popularity of the old views are dwindling down. Also, the media helps the fact that they make us, normal looking people less attractive and therefore make us look for more than what is "average."

Your statistics are incorrect. The divorce rate isn't quite that high, but I think alot of people get divorced because they don't take the commitment seriously when they marry.

I think it's more like 50%, but i think the reason is that people don't take marriage seriously anymore. If they would take the time to realize the meaning of the vows and not just rush into marriage, it may last longer.
