Butter can be tough. First resort, rub in some dish soap or liquid laundry detergent. The wash normally (warmest water that the item will stand) BUT don't put it in the dryer. Let it air dry so you can see if the grease is gone. The dryer will make the butter almost imposible to remove.
If the soap liquid doesn't work, see if you can find a stain remover called Zout. It has never failed me for greasy stains, red wine, etc. And I'm a pretty big slob when grilling food, etc.

Anything that will get rid of grease will work. Put some detergent directly on the stain first and rub it in; then launder. If that does not work, try Dawn dishwashing liquid. Rub that in and then throw in washer. Use warmest water that is safe for the clothes.

Use dish soap on the shirt. It is especially formulated to remove cooking oils and I use it all the time on oily food spots, it works well. Some times I have to spot treat with dish soap and rewash an item with an oily food spot, that I did not notice the first time I washed, it works the second time around then.
