people go to temples or worship idols
all these idols of different gods,,.......they never look ugly
ok i agree that don't look pretty either but they have the best of figures , and average lookin faces
i mean nobody has seen the real god and its all just created
they just worship some silly idol!
i mean y idol worship ! you ain't even worshipping god
that's the reason i hate going to temples
for me god is all in my imagination
i don't even know is its a he or she? maybe he doesn't even have arms and legs , it ain't necessary that god looks like humans
he could be anything
even shapeless .....y human of all things
so finally my point is that idols dont really represent the TRUE GOD!
tell me what you think

for a Child- God is what has been shown by his/her parents who gives evrything.
For a teenager- God is somebody to interact when they are in doubt and trouble
For a Middle aged man/woman - God is some image to be worshipped other than going to office and looking after the child as a ritual
For an aged: God is somebody he/she is going to meet very soon

Sub categories:
Philosopher: God comes as love, sympathi, traitor, mindless, kindness, forgiver, criminal, executor etc etc
Priest: God is his living
Scientist: God lives always beyond his inventions
Muslim: God is Allaha a sound
Christian: God has no form named as "Messiah". He never comes but sends his sons to earth like Christ. Some times only one son.
Hindu: God apears in Dawaita, Adwaita and many
Buddhist: God- that question to be understood at different levels. Some times it need not have to be addressed at all.God is there or not, look at your sufferings and find out ways to cure it.
jaina: No god but godly peple can emerge.
Sikh, Jews, Tao, Shinto etc etc I do not know much about all those. Buddha told it right as per my readings till now. There can be higher beings but no ultimate creator. And also, the understanding of higher beings upto the level of Brahma Loka can be understood only when one's mind is so subtle and ready to understand that. I think you are at the level of evaluation of idols. Good beginning....keep questioning...you have to find out that by yourself...no temple,no priest can help you on this. They may be able to show the direction...but you have to walk by yourself.....long way to go. All the best.

I disagree that idols don't represent the "TRUE GOD," at least in the broadest context. An idol is just that, a representation. I doubt that many people that worship in temples take the statues and the like to be literal images of the divine; it's just a physical manifestation of a larger idea that formalizes the act of worship.

God is infinite . God has no form. The picture of this old man with long flowing beard and flowing white robes sitting on a throne are all creations of mankind as to their perception of God. It's unfortunate that we have statutes
of Jesus Christ on the Cross, Virgin Mary and all the other saints. Because as human beings, the mind is unable to conceive the idea of God
without visible images.

Saints are holy people blessed by God and thru whose intercession, faith in God is materialize. These statutes are not idols. The pagan idols you talk about in ancient times were animal and grotesque figures. All of these saints and the
miracles.they performed were well documented

The Blessed MOther and all the saints act as our intermediaries or bridges to God in time of need. God sent His ONly Son, Jesus Christ , to
die for us on the cross and redeem our sins so we can enter Heaven.

Not every body have idols..like Muslims they don't have anything that is shaped like God...second when other religions such as Christan have the cross with Jesus on it, it's because God created people as a virgin of his own figure...God is every where it's not in any specific place..look around you look how there is a sky, trees , ocean and so on u'll see the existence of God...Blesses

"Idols" are simply symbols of the gods that are worshiped. Each religious culture has its own beliefs and they represent their god(s) in their own way.

i've noticed. true its just imagination. god is belief; a belief with which people live. they have tried to give best form to this belief and what form would have been better than a humans? by this, though unknowingly human superiority is also shown and it becomes easy to commit ones errors and mistakes.

i believe god is a soul and is formless and is the eternal light but we all have our imagination just as u said,so if someone imagines him to be human like man or female let it be as along as they understand what god stands for i.e. truth, kindness nd so on.

i imagine it relies upon on what number of people are asking questions mutually as you - there are circumstances even as an analogous questions stay on the first web page for a lengthy time period yet even as it truly is busy on right here they could purely be on the first web page for a jiffy...if that and maximum consumers do not hardship clicking onto the 2d, third web page etc.... :-)

Everybody needs a rock. Something to believe in. Be it themselves or someone else or something else. They create an image or adopt an image that best suits their ideals.
