The weak side is the side of the floor that the ball is not in. For example the player with the ball is on the right side. The left side is then the weak side

Weak side is the opposite side of the ball side.( or where ever the ball is located)

The Strong side refers to the side where the ball is located on the basketball court

The term comes from the defensive stance you do against the opponent you are guarding in terms of how many passes is he away from the ball.

The opponent with the ball : you should match up strongly deny dribble penetration or at least funnel him to dribble with his weak dribble.

The opponent standing one pass away: You must aggresively deny the opponent a good post-up position if he is a forward or aggressively deny the passing lane if he is a guard.

The opponent standing two or more passes away (WEAKSIDE): You can sag towards the ball, (thus "weakly pressuring" the opponent) offering any help should your teamate got beaten on the dribble penetration on the "STRONG SIDE".

Hope it helps.

I'm not sure what your looking for. I'm female and have never played the game but I love to watch no matter which team is playing. The thing that I see is the referee's can't see what goes on at times because they are on the wrong side of the court. Do they need one more referee? I wonder?
