Only do this if your doctor tells you it is ok. There are many tried and true home remedies out there. Many are still used that are not safe. What may be safe for one baby may not be safe for another. A full term healthy baby may be able to tolerate things better than a preterm infant that is now home and doing well. A person reading home remedies like this may make the mistake and not call the doctor. Be careul what you give your baby always.

You put it in the bottle before you warm it. Start by using like half a teaspoon to a full 8 oz bottle. You have to experiment with it to see how it affects the baby. If you need more, you can use more until it softens the stool. (I assume that's what you're using it for.) If the amount you've used is sufficient, you will notice a change by the next bowel movement. Continue to use it in each bottle as you are getting the result you need. If you are breast feeding, perhaps you could pump the milk and then mix it in and warm it. If not, I guess it would work in water. But you do have to warm it to mix it in, then let it cool to drinking temp. Be sure you are using light colored Karo, not the dark. If the baby's on cereal in an infa-feeder, you could put it there, too. (But if constipation is the problem, I would back off of the cereal.)

You may give one teaspoon in every other bottle of formula. I assume that you are using this for constipation. You can't give it straight because it is too thick for that! Just add the syrup and warm the bottle as you normally would. I used only one bottle with karo every other day and that worked for us. Please use only the number of bottles with Karo as you need to get results. This is an old remedy that works great but does add alot of empty calories for baby! Good luck to you and baby and if this doesn't work ask your baby's doc about a medicine called Miralax that you can mix with formula to ensure normal bowel movements.

2 tablespoons DARK Karo syrup mixed with 2 ounces water, put in a bottle. I've used this many times with my two boys, and it usually worked within 12 hours, give or take.
