I have heard that rubbing an item of stainless silver under water (like a teaspoon) on your hands will absorb the odor of garlic or onion.

My own theory is to use a silver utensil, because silver has a lower oxidation energy state than stainless steel. See 2nd source, where a dentist recommends using a silver tongue scraper tool to remove garlic odor from your tongue.

Both vegetables have a lot of a sulphur-based compound, one reason why onions make you cry.

Wash them with lemon juice or vinegar. Next time you deal with onions you can wear some of those disposable gloves so the smell doesn't get on your hands.

Orange hand wash. The stuff machanics use to rid grease from their hands will work great and even leave your hands realy soft. put some in your hands and rub them together all over. then rinse them off and wash again with your regular hand soap and your onion problems will be gone for good.

Ive heard lemons or lemon juice too but that never really worked all that well for me. Ive tried a few things but I find once it gets in your skin it just takes time, wash your hands alot. Hopefully Ill hear a new idea here too.

a dilution of bleach water 1 oz to 1 gallon.....but that really just a cover up, but then so is lemon juice.........to really get it out, dump a scoop of "Oxi-Clean" in a sink, fill up a gallon, then soak your hands for a minute or so. It's extreme, but then, you asked!!
