I have a Dell 720 printer that came free with my computer. I only recently unpacked it and got it up and running. I'd prefer not to have to order new cartridges from Dell if I can help it. Is there another ink cartridge I can use so I don't have to order from Dell?

I have a bottom of the range canon i250 and a better quality hp.
i use the canon for text and when it runs out of ink i have a bottle of ink and a syringe , i take out the cartridge and drip 10ml into the sponge on the cartridge. i have been doing this for 2 years now and it works a treat. obviously its not recommended but that's why you get the printers free because its the cartridges that manufacturers make there money on
you can also buy a kit for refilling the cartridge, which you drill a hole into the cartridge , but i find dripping the ink in does the same job. don't over fill or it will run out the over flow
Give it a try you'll save a fortune. here's a link

certainly, i do not favor to disappoint you, even if the reality is that Dell printers are the purely ones who promote Dell ink cartridges. I consider you in that they are very extreme priced. i have personal Dells for more beneficial or less 22 years already because i'm getting preparation savings, and they have been very supportive and reliable. i purchase the fee Packs. Dell even sends me self-addressed envelopes, so i am going to go back and recycle their ink cartridges; yet i do not. What I do is take them to Staples, and that i'm getting a $3 coupon for each cartridge. I upload the coupons till I genuinely have sufficient to purchase replica paper for the Dell printer! both that, or study for a sparkling printer. solid success!

Not that I know of. Dell sucks. If the printer was free then sell it to someone and get a normal printer for yourself.

Try www.ink4jets.com. Personally, I would buy another good printer.
