I have been to six different countries now and everytime I go to another country, I haven't really seen that many big SUVS. Is the United States the only country that loves their "Escalades" and "Hummers" ? // I know Americans just like to buy vehicles that make them look good but are we the only ones that do that or what? How really obsessed are we with celebrities too? I mean everyone says that we are but are we really?

believe me its just us. i dont want to offend anyone but it is true most americans want to show off their superiority. they buy big things just to show off how much money they have.

the celebrity thing im not so sure about. most ppl are really into the celebs in their country.

I can't afford a Hummer but I do own a SUV. Without it I could not get out of my home in the winter. I live in the Country and the roads are sometime snow covered for days.
As far as Celebrities, I really wish they would make their movies, or sing their songs and then go hide somewhere. Every time most of them talk you can see how far separated from reality they are.

Out of all the countries I've visited so far, I think the US is the only country that is obsessed with bigger the better and since our country produces a lot of the world's celebrities, its how the rest of the world sees the US.

I'm sometimes ashamed to say I live in the US by the way Americans are seen on TV abroad, such as on MTV.

Europeans wouldn't mind having SUV's but they are to crowded to have that kind of cars. Don't forget that Europeans make Mercedes, Rolls Royce, Ferrari etc... Go to Monaco some time and see the cars they drive. Can't say that those cars don't make you look good. Europeans are also obsessed with celebrities especially royalty.

I think the fact that alot of us are able to afford them is a positive statement about our economy!! I own a big ford truck and a pontiac GTO, so I don't really have a SUV, but I understand the point you are trying to make. As far as celebrities go, they lose their credibility as soon as the movie ends in my opinion. Way to many bleeding heart liberalis in Hollywood for me and not nearly enough realists!!!

well in the late 60's it was muscle cars, ( thankfully they are back!! )

then the 70's gave us those junk Pinto's and Vega's

Now in the age of soccer moms the SUV seems to be king.. some people need them some just like them... maybe its status or safety... we do love our cars!!!

Advertising works. We are born consumers in this country and are what is cool and what to buy.
