I know! I used to shave, but I always used to end up cutting myself and the stubble grew back in hours! Then I started waxing them. Yes, it hurt. But the stubble didn't come back for 2 weeks. But I couldn't wax again till the hair was at least 1 inch long, and it looked really nasty in between waxing. No, plucking is the worst idea I have ever heard of. It will hurt a lot! And if you get ingrown hairs, that would be nasty. So now I use Veet. It works really well. I only have to use it one a week. And when the hair grows back, the stubble isn't really stubbly and dark. it grows back soft and smooth. I leave it on for 5 minutes and the hair just literally falls off. It works a lot better than Nair. Don't thread your armpits either. I've heard of some stupid people doing that.

I prefer sugaring. You have more control, and I actually find that it hurts less. It takes some time to get used to, though - be prepared for a learning curve. Only do small patches at a time, remember to pull the skin taut when you pull off the strips and you can actually apply some orajel first (rub it in well so it's absorbed) to dull the pain for your first few attempts .
As far as I know, waxing it just as damaging to skin as razors - which is not very much. DO make sure to exfoliate regularly if you wax, or you'll get ingrown hairs. If you're really not tolerant of pain, go for the Veet! I don't like it though - a chemical that dissolves hair + my skin makes me nervous!

You can opt for Laser hair removal for permanent hair removal. It usually includes a couple of sessions before you can actually see the effects. But it works.
You can try shaving but that can give you chicken skin.
Waxing's fine too. As long as you're not allergic to the wax that you're gonna use and that you gotta make sure that the wax isn't too hot (to avoid getting burnt skin which could lead to discolouration) if you're gonna use hot wax. It will prolly take you at least 3 weeks before you wax again. And waxing really does loosen the skin, but by the time you notice that, you're prolly be like in your 50s or 60s.
Dep creams like Sally Hansen is fine (hair growth is just as fast as when you shave which is usually 2-3 days) as long as you find the one that's suitable for your skin to avoid rashes. I suggest you do a skin patch test 24 hours before actually using the product.
Threading's fine too but it's awfully painful especially if your pain threshold isn't really high (and if the one who's doing the threading for you isn't experienced enough). I suggest you take at least 2 capsules/tablets of painkillers an HOUR before doing the actual procedure.
Whichever procedure you choose to do, make sure you moisturize before and after doing it. Goodluck!

I would (and did) book an appointment with an esthetician for an armpit waxing. Then pay close attention to how she does it (quickly and expertly). Then do it yourself!
(Bikini lines are, in my opinion, really impossible to do properly on yourself by wax, that is, but armpits are a breeze! And once you wax, you'll never EVER want to go back to shaving again...)
PS Use cold wax. Much easier. Just warm it a little in a sink with warm/hot water.)

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful. Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged. A review of the various hair removal methods is available at

Waxing is better for armpits because they remove most of the hair. The smooth skin last longer and the regrowth is finer and less sparse.
Do not shave your armpit, the skin is very thin and nicks are inevitable. Also, the friction created while shaving burns the skin, making it darker.

That is a great question. I have problems with shaving. It irritates me badly. So I think that I will try to wax and nair, at two different times of course and see which is better. Anything has to be better than shaving, ouch! :)

Why can't you get a razor? I think you can wax but it seems like a lot of trouble to go to for just a small area. You could always pluck them...lol
