This is a pretty standard interview question, so I assume that what it is for.

Strengths are pretty straightforward, and people don't ususally ask for more than three. Try to customize them for the job - detail oriented, organized, adaptable, social, etc. Go over the job description and choose a couple of strengths about yourself that fit the bullet-points for the job.

As for weaknesses, if you are early on in your career choose something that can also be viewed as a strength, for example:

"Sometimes I focus on my project too much and put all of my effort into finishing it before I move on to other things"
or
"I become too interested in taking other's opinions into account and then have to rush to finish projects to my satisfaction"

Clearly, the first one wouldn't work if you had to be a multi-tasker, so make sure your story is compatible with everything else you say.

If you're farther on in your career, they look for a real weakness, not a boilerplate answer. Don't choose something that is critically bad, but structure your answer as such:

weakness - how you are fixing/adapting to weakness - recent example of a successful result due to fixing/adapting

They might also ask for up to three weaknesses. Have a short anecdote about each strength and weakness to demonstrate these - you can't just say "I'm adaptable" and then not be able to think of an example where you actually were.

Good luck!

From your question, I think you are asking in the context of an interview. It is best to be truthful, and positive. I recommend you begin speaking of your strengths first (ie, learns quickly; team player dedicated; perseverence) and then list a weakness that you turn into a positive. For example, I am someone who is a bit of a perfectionist, however, I take pride in accomplishing something of quality--even under a deadline.
