Also have you ever noticed when the cops have taken down a suspect by beating the snot out of him, he's all swollen and bleeding but they put their hand on top of his head so he won't hit it getting in the car.

This is a very interesting question you pose. I am neither for or against executions but the question of sterilization probably is a technicality within the prison system. I've been to doctor's offices where it seems they don't even keep their equiptment clean. I don't think it's a case of the inmate becoming infected or if they even care but just the idea that whoever administers that final surge will feel he did his best at such trying time. My feeling comes down to the hypocrisy of the law itself. If I believe in corporal punishment or not, their's seems to be something very wrong morally, and ethically about taking someone's life. Make up your own mind.

Consider this: What if the person gets a reprieve while in the death chamber? They got the needles in but the juice hadn’t started flowing yet when the call comes in from the Governor. If the needles weren’t sterilized, then the pardoned inmate might get an infection.

It it to make us as a society feel better about what we are doing to the guy about to get killed.
Just like them making sure the convicted is "sane" and in good helth before we pull the switch.
Makes you wonder.

It is a medical rule, and they also probably do it so that the needle doesn't contract a disease the victim has?

itz all about the procedure...and by not cleaning the needles is like killing the person instead of death by a certain substance they insert...goes back to cruel and unusual punishment... all about the procedures...
