Don't know if I bought the wrong type of disc but can I re-use a CD-R disc?

you can't. to reuse a disc, it must me a CD-RW

If the CD-R is not full and you haven't "finalized the disc", then yes, you can add more to it. When you write data to a CD-R, the burning software you're using should give you the option to close the session or to finalize the disc. When you just close the session, then you can add additional sessions at a later time until the disc is either full or finalized.

However, you can't delete what's on there already unless you have a CD-RW (rewritable) disc.

CDRs are normally for one time usage, but if you keep the session open while buring you can append some more data, but you cannot delete the data previously written on the CD.

For multiple usage, use CD-RW(CD Read/Write) here you can append,delete the data as you desire.

sorry, no for adding (later) data/music/etc to a disk it MUST be cd-rw or dvd-rw (means Re-Writeable), as for the other appendages +, - these are just various breeds conceived by sony, and all the other mfgr;s of disk hardware; most are interchangeable.
