lol thats what they told me and when my baby was born he had a full head of hair! i mean thick hair! anyway it also means you need to put moisturizer, plenty, plenty or you might get stretch mark that would show only after the baby is born.

I think that some people are misunderstanding your question and think that you're saying you think the baby's hair is actually touching your stomach and making your skin itch.

That's just an old wives tale. My stomach itched like crazy, and my little man is just over 6 months, and still bald. I never saw my sister in law itching her belly, and her little girl was born with lots of hair.

Another one is that if you have a lot of heartburn, your baby will have hair. In our case, that one ended up being right. I never had heartburn, and my sister in law had it daily.

All these old wives tales have a 50-50 shot of being true, if you think about it.

A word of caution, though, no matter how bad your belly itches, try not to scratch. Rub on mousterizer instead. The rubbing usually soothes the itching. The more you scratch, the more you irritate your skin, and the more strech marks pop out. I wish I hadn't scratched, cause until I started doing it, I only had a few marks, and they were all very light.

No, it's not true. Your baby is tightly enclosed and surrounded by amniotic fluid, the uterus (a thick muscle), fat, fluids, and skin. The head is covered with a waxy substance called vernix that you will notice after birth (the whole body is covered in it). The hair will not tickle or itch you.

The reason your skin could be itchy is due to the stretching that the skin goes through as the belly grows.

(Don't pee in drano, either. That doesn't work.)

No, dear, it has nothing to do with the baby inside of you. It itches because the skin is being stretched tight, especially when you're in your third trimester. If you have any concerns, talk with your Oby-gyn. It's not a dumb question. The only dumb questions are the ones that don't get asked. Congrats and enjoy!

your belly iches because your skin is stretching, not because of hair. Although, I have heard you can get heartburn because of the baby's hair. Good Luck!!!

Not true, but it could itch because your skin is so stretched out. Besides at 40 weeks the babies head is probably down in your pelvis.

well I don't think it is your baby's hair that makes your stomach itch. because I'm 37 weeks and my stomach itches like crazy because the baby is stretching the skin around your stomach. put some ointment and lotion on it if it begins to bother you

Yes...for me my belly stretched so much that it itched all the times. If you scratch though it's supposed to make stretch marks worse. I'm not too sure about the inside itching thought...that's the first time I heard that?!?!
