I'm not looking after kids at mo - this question is prompted by the fact im hoping the message on the air bag (sick bag) was done by a child not a terrorist

As a mother of two boys..I understand the stupid behaivor. The continuous goofy noise making..the constant talking, always having to say...stop acting retarded and sit down for a bit, or something to that effect. How do ya deal with it? I drink. LMAOO! In all seriousness..you really do have to just ignore it to an extent. Entertain her as much as you can, because she loves you and that is what she wants....your attention.
After awhile there is nothing wrong with telling them, alright now thats enough...lets have some quiet time and maybe read or color with crayons for awhile..uncle needs some quiet time. Take something with you to that she can do quietly alone..like I said, books, crayons and a colouring book, her dr. who toys...hahahaa..
If all else fails..go for a walk and smoke. LOL

Just ignore the stupid behaviour. Reward them for acting smart.
Say things like what a minute, I know you are smarter than that, lets play a game. You can show me how smart you really are..Then from there go on to ask her questions about her surroundings while you are both going to all the shops. She will be happy you are paying attention to her and she just may start acting smart instead of stupid.

There is a boy in my son's class who is the same way. I help out in there and to me it is obvious he should be in the smartest group and not the dumbest or "stoopid" group. He is good looking (all the little girls love him.....they are in 2nd grade now), excellent and sports, and pretends to be "stoopid" when the teacher is around. His reading skills are easily beginning third grade. It is so annoying to watch (perhaps more so because my son is in the smart group and isn't so good at sports and I don't thing girls follow him around because he's a class clown....I guess he acts "stoopid" in front of the kids, but is smart for the teacher). Hmmmmm.

.. Maybe you are causing this child to act this way, in order to get your attention. If you see this child in a different light, they just might act in a better way. I would look for what this child is doing right, and build on that. Do you really care for for this child? Are you empowering this person to act this way? Give them the Love that they need and want, then I think you will see a lot of improvement on how this child acts. By the way, please let them have their childhood. Don't expect kids to think like adults

1 you never tell your kids they are stupid
2 ignore bad behaviour
3 prise them lots
4 hug them when they need you to
5 always let them know you love them (at least once a day)
6 if you have to tell them off for anything explain why (always)
7 do lots of fun things with them (it's the good times as a family they will never forget)
8 when they go wrong gide them the right way(explain where they went wrong)
9 always stand by them in times of need
10 LEARN TO SAY NO (OCCASTIONALLY)

Your question does not really make any sense. If you are asking about kids in general acting stupidly, there is no one reason. Children all have different problems. The question about your niece if very confusing also.

Yes , Ignore them. All children do this it's human nature . They're
trying you , testing the waters if you will. Totally igoring children that do this all the time is psychologically not in there best interest also as it will create negative behaviors in them when they reach adolesence and even adulthood.

As you quite rightly said, they are ATTENTION SEEKING, even if they get it by bad actions.

Watch your niece, give her the attention when she is simply acting normally, praise is highly prized by someone like her, make sure she gets it when acting positively, and watch her shine. And of course IGNORE the negative behaviour as much as possible. Good luck!

Children will always be stupid, they were when i was a child back in the 50s and probably the same in my mothers childhood. any adult that thinks their child doesn't act stupid at times lives in cloud-cookoo-land
