I have been trying to get pregnant for 8 months. I already have a 19 month old daughter. It took me years to get preg with her. Anyways all my friends keep telling me that I need to quit thinking about it so much.To stop using ovulation test strips and etc. They think if I quit thinking about it then I will get preganat. I think that is just silly. So my question is how many of you were actually trying to get pregnant?Did you use ovulation test strips??????

I am 28 years old and have 4 children. I never tried to get pregnant with any of them except my last little girl and it took me forever to get that way. I used ovulation strips and the ovulation scope and it did not help me one bit. Once I decided that it just was not meant to be 2 months later I found out I was pregnant. If you are trying hard then you can stress your body and it will basically shut that factory down until it feels it is safe to reopen its doors again. m,y doctor told me to relax and all the fun of getting pregnant is in the making of that baby.

I have never used ovulation tests. The one time I tried to conceive (the others were spontaneous miracles!), I used the basal temp method to determine ovulation, as well as discharge viscosity. And then after about a year of this I finally got pregnant! Unfortunately, I miscarried 3 months later.

I used a software program called Ovusoft to track my cycles and other symptoms, as well as coital (intercourse) times.

The Natural Signs of Fertility
There are various signs of fertility which can be observed by a woman to gain an understanding of her fertility patterns. The main signs are:

the mucus secreted before and during the time of ovulation,
the small but measurable rise in basal body temperature which occurs after ovulation, and
the changes in the cervix occurring around ovulation.
There are also secondary signs, such as ovulation pain and breast tenderness, which may be helpful.

These signs can be used individually - the Billings Method (also called the Ovulation Method), for example, relies upon the mucus sign alone - or together in a cross-checking way in the Symptothermal Method.

My husband and I have been trying since April 1st. Every month I have used an ovulation kit and BBT method. The first couple months I was obsessed and thought about it all the time. The last two months my thoughts have been it will happen when it is meant to be. Monday I took a pregnancy test and it was negative however today I took two tests and they both came out positive! Relax and it will happen when your baby wants to be born it will happen with the help from up above!

Actually your friends are correct.

We have what is called a flight or fight response to stress. Our bodies put adrenaline into our system and things happen to prepare us to literally run for our lives or to fight for them. For instance, your digestive system shuts down when you are stressed. It's not important for your immediate survival. That's why many people either get diarrhea or constipation when they are under stress. Some get upset stomachs and throw up. Another thing that isn't necessary for your survival in a flight or fight situation is reproduction. Your body will inhibit the production of hormones that make your body ready for pregnancy. That's why female athletes stop menstruating and why they are usually boyishly slim with small or nonexistent breasts. They are constantly stressing their bodies to compete. Their body isn't prepared to safely carry a pregnancy so it makes it impossible to get pregnant.

So how do you change that situation? You relax. And you do that by stop trying so hard to get pregnant. Don't buy pregnancies kits, stop counting days, quit imaging you are exhibiting pregnancy symptoms. Focus on something else every time you start to dwell on it. Before you know it, you'll be pregnant.

well my advice is to stop thinking about it, cause i like to drove myselef crazy i wanted a baby so bad, i was taking pregnacy test every month for 5 years and yes it got exp.so i finaly gave up i thought i couldn't have kids once i forgot about it within 3 months i was pregnant.i was so shocked when i found out.your body is in stress it cain't be doing everything all at once, you need to be relaxed, you need to think of nothing else besides how good it feels enjoy.it will happen, but on the other hand if you doin't have your periods right that good be different, cause my sister isn't right after she had her first child, she didn't use protection and it was 2 years before she got pregnant again.

Stress can make it difficult to get pregnant. If it is on your mind all the time and you are using test strips and other methods trying to find the best time to get pregnant, you are likely stressing about it. Let it go, relax, enjoy your husband and if it is meant to happen it will. You can't do anything to make it happen sooner so you may as well let go and have fun!

most professionals will tell you that you shouldnt even think about a second child until your first is 24 months of age....

I got pregnant when I wasnt trying ... scared the heck out of me.. got my tubes tied as soon as I could afterwards.. I dont want to be a part of the human over population of the planet.. so I stopped at one... (plus my mom had 4 and I was the oldest.. still hate her for this)

Your friend is in a sense right.Dont try so hard.My sister in law tryed for over 2 years, she was even on fertility drugs as soon as she quit taking them and pretty much gave up she got pregnant. With my second child my husband and i tryed for about 6 mths and as soon as we decided we would wait until we saved up some money i was pregnant a month later.Let it happen when you least expect it..Good Luck!!!!
