I am not a doctor but it sounds like poly cystic ovarian syndrome. Don't get scared just a big sounding syndrome. It is controllable but you need to go see a doctor. There are creams that can be applied to the skin to slow the growth of the hair that work well. You are not alone their are so many women who have this condition. Go to soulcysters.com they have lots of info on this too. I have it as well. And yes it does affect your self esteem. I started getting the symptoms in high school first the facial hair (sideburns, beard and a mustache) then severe weight gain during high school i weighed 110lbs-125lbs at 5'7" my early 20's I shot up to 180lbs I am now in my 30s and I weigh over 200lbs. I am currently on the Scarsdale diet (must be followed strictly) as it's the only one that I seem able to stick too. As for the weight gain the best diets for women with this is a low carb diet or a diabetic diet. Also I think the south beach diet or weight watchers diet is very good. First go to the doctor then find a diet that will work for you. Good luck. And please don't do anything to hurt yourself, your doctor can help you control most if not all of these symptoms but it takes time.

Puberty starts at different times for every girl/woman. 13 is pretty average and not something to worry about. As for the weight loss, get started on a weight loss program that can help you and that is designed for you - try Slim4Life if they are in your area, they are very personalized and supportive and you do not have to go to meeting or feel uncomfortable. About the hair growth - you should probably see a doctor about that. A thyroid condition may be something to consider as well. If your family doctor cannot give you an answer, get a refferal for a dermatologist and pursue it.

For now, shave or wax so you can feel better about that, use light exercise (even walking) to relieve stome of the stress, and focus on the things you are proud of and good at -skills, hobbies, talents, whatever.

You'll make it! :)

Totally a hormone imbalance.

Natural suggestions: Take Saw Palmetto (anti-androgen) decreases the amount of "male" hormones throughout the body.

Also take Chaste Tree Berry (it's also called Vitex)-this emulates/helps produce estrogen, a "female" hormone.

If you take both at the same time, then you should balance out quicker than just taking one. It's like a jab-punch combo.Take triple the suggested dose for the first week, then taper off. I hope you see a difference. I hate doctors and prescription drugs!

I don't know how you feel, honey. But I have struggled with pretty bad acne my entire life. It's embarrassing and I hate the way I look sometimes, too.

I'm sure you get depressed. But none of it is worth killing yourself over, though. Whenever you feel this way, watch that movie with Julia Roberts called Dying Young.

Yes. Being hairy is called hirschutism (spelling?) and with weight gain, etc., you really really need to see a doctor for some tests. By the way, 13 is the average age for puberty for girls.

Speak to a doctor about this. Yes, it is a sign of a medical condition. Your body may be producing too much testosterone(male hormone), for one, and that can be remedied.
Don't be embarrassed to speak up about this, you're not the only one who has had this problem.

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful. Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.
