y is an earring called an earring if u dont have a ring in it?
i cant really answer it.
and u can get a ring for the tongue, its called a door knocker - its a straight barbell with a ring on the end that rests on ur tongue. trust me, it feels great!!!!

That is a good question. What about an earRING. Not all earrings are ring in shape. My guess is that we got used to piercings and other jewelry in ring shapes and just kept naming things after it.

As far as I know, people call it "tongue piercing", not ring.

i kno right it should just be called tounge piercing lol but idk i think its because the original ones where in a ring shape

just to better categorize it. labeling is okay for jewelery, not so much for people tho.
