It depends on who it is. If it's someone that I'm very close to, and love very much, I would help them end their suffering and pay the consequences. I would have a hard time living with myself if I justs left them in pain.

It's true, the amount of pain a person can go through in illness we would not inflict on animals, therefore we put them down. We, as humans, put great intrinsic value on (human) life.

Depends on my relation to that person and their age. As a doctor (a decision I will have to make in a few years' time), friend, relative, etc. It would also depend on the many different resources available to consider.... Possible cures, treatments, carers, where they live, laws, ethics; also, quality of life, how the person felt when they were under this strain of the illness, they way they thought and what they believed in....

Very much situational, unique to each individual's circumstances - this is my answer.

Good question, Until my mom was dying with breast cancer I had always thought those who help someone to die were either brave or nuts, but standing at the side of her bed and seeing her suffer made me so angry, if an animal is in pain you put it down to end its suffering, if a human is in pain you give them morphine, mop their brow and stroke their hair, I just hated having to stand back and see the woman who had given her all to her children and husband suffering in pain like she was, I felt so tempted I can tell you, but it wasn't what mom wanted and I had to stand back and go back to what I she had always taught us, who are we to end any ones life, I still don't know even today if I really could do it, its still a very hard thing to think about.

I have worked with many cancer patients who have asked just that question, it is very difficult to see another human being suffer this way and very often in a great deal of pain (morphine doesn't work for everyone), unfortunately euthanasia is still illegal in this country, but I hope not for much longer. If you asking in relation to a relative or close friend I am honestly not sure what I would do, unless actually faced with it no-one knows for sure!

I think it's a lot to ask of someone and I personally could not help someone to die, I just couldn't live with something like that on my concounce.

me and my family are going through this kind of thing at the moment with my uncle in Malta
He is sick and has MS, cant eat himself, cant hold his head up, wears nappies, cant speak, his dinner gets mashed and fed to him through a pipe in his stomach.
Its illegal over there to help someone as they are all very catholic, but if I could he would have been dead a long time ago cos I love him and respect him too much to see him like that

I would not help him die. This would be murder and you would have to live with it the rest of your life. There is such a thing as divine intervention. I would pray and ask God to take him out of his suffering if it is not his will to heal him.

I will never do that because it is against the law of God and men.
Do you recall the case of Dr. Kevorkian who assisted terminally ill patients to end their lives? He has been sentenced to a long prison term.

I would try to talk them out of it and let them know that they are special to me and I care but that taking anothers life is wrong. I would pray for them and ask God to give them his peace and help them to feel his presence in their life. If they didn't know Jesus I would talk to them about Jesus and heaven and being saved. Once I knew they were saved and going to heaven I would pray for God to take them.

That is a tough question.
I can't play God and rush things but I can see to it his/her wishes are met and nothing extra is done short of keeping him /her comfortable.
