I had the same problem at my old job until I hired a personal assistant to deal with that kind of annoyance. She's a very competent middle aged lady who screened all my calls and intimidated the hell out of anyone who tried to come through my door. Even my boss had to check with her before he could see me.

I still work for the same company but now I just telecommute from my attic. I still keep in touch with my former assistant. I "passed her on" to my boss.

My S/O thinks that because I work at home he can just come in my office and yack away all he wants and it annoys me cuz I get paid by the line....

Yes and it is very irritating. Try putting a note on or beside the door
Just because I have an open door policy doesn't mean that I am not busy Please Knock and wait for an invite.

I teach a jr. high self-contained class of handicapped kiddos and people just pop in all the time to bug me about the stupidest things....totally ruins our flow and I hate that!!!! ggrrrr

I don't have an office, but I have had people interrupt me without thinking twice about it. It's very annoying.
