Bentley Little is good, although some of his books are a little "over the top" with the eroticism. My daughter is 14 and loves King and Koontz, but I won't let her read my Little books, he is good though if you like scary, sexy books

You could try John Saul. He is a little different than King and Koontz, but an excellent author. Especially the ghost stories.

Clive Barker's books are more disturbing and a little bit more intelligent (no offense to King or Koontz) than most horror fiction writers. The imagery of his stories will stay with you.

I don't think anyone write books like King; Koontz is more of a book maching, cranking them out pretty quickly. I also like books by Patricia Highsmith, but she's dead so I have to settle on re-reading what's already been written.

You could try Dan Simmons. I've enjoyed a lot of his books, especially "Summer of Night" (which is very similar to "IT", and I am curious as to which was written first); "Carrion Comfort"; "Children of the Night"; and "Fires of Eden." Happy reading :)

Oh, and Christopher Hyde is good too.
