from where yahoo! got the name "avatar" for all your animation image?? if yes, explain

Well first off Yahoo wasnt the first to adopt the word "avatar" for an icon of some kind that represents a person. The word avatar means- an imbodiement or incarnation. So as to say that the icon is an imbodiement of the person it represents. That means that the icon is supposed to be another "you" and it doesnt come from that TV show Avatar: the last airbender on Nickelodeon.
