Listen, dogs need activity and exercise. If you are too lazy to take the dog for much needed walks, which will help greatly in toilet training, then you don't need a dog. What you need to do, if you really want to convince her to let you keep the dog, is CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DAMN DOG!
How can you just sit around wondering why she wants to get rid of the dog who destroyed your furniture. I love dogs, I am a true dog lover. This is why my dogs are well trained, understand what's off limits, and where to go to do their business...PERIOD!
Nobody wants to sit in a pissy smelling room.

You should build your dog a really nice dog house I don't think your wife will mind if hes outside. you could also get a toddler fence and block off your living room so he couldn't pee on the couch again

Why don't you just get rid of the couch if the urine stain is permanent? Better to get rid of the couch than man's best friend.
She must know how much you love your four legged friend right?

How big is the doghouse??? You should build one with about 5 bedrooms....room for loooots of couches....
