Is it possible to be seperate from what we observe? If so where and how does that seperation occur?

Nope. It's just not possible. Even the act of viewing our experiment, or whatever it is we're observing, influences it. Our bodies give off heat, we manipulate the natural gravity by being near the objects, our equipment that we use is always going to have an effect on the object, even if it's just friction. We will always influence our experiments, even in the depth of space our bodies would create their own gravity to affect the things we observe. Here's a fun fact to prove the theory. Did you know that everyone sees a different rainbow? As rainbows are simply water droplets being illuminated and we can never be in the exact same place as another person the angles of the light we are seeing will always be slightly different than anyone else's. Carry this simple explanation over to your question, we would all have a different interpretation of what we were actually looking at.

I think separation occurs when repetitious observation is performed. Constant observation of the same phenomena may tend to allow you to separate yourself from the observed.

Mirrored sunglasses. The separation occurs at the point your eyes cross.

You can't. We are of the material universe, and there is no way getting around that.
