I was told I'll need an connector/adapter for my taillights because the blinkers are seperate from the taillights and it could messup the comp. it's a 1994 2wd Nissan P/U trk. as it is the regular connector plug will only allow the trailer lights to come on but not show brake or blinkers when applied.Any facts on getting around the purchase?

Reese makes a T-connector, that you simply plug in. Part #15353 (the converter is integrated). Or you could go the economical route and get the generic splice on converter; part #74209.

You will need to put one of the two of these on.

With the little Nissan you nave, and the type of lights you probably have on the trailer, Bite the Bullet and buy the little box and converter. It isn't THAT expensive, especially compared to the cost of wiring of your pick-up, the cost of a ticket for illegal lighting on the trailer (insufficient) or the cost of a collision because that idiot behind you didn't stop in time because he "didn't see you stop".

Personally I think it's wrong to use the taillights. If you ever wire a brake controller now or later it will blow fuses. I would go straight to the fuse block.
