System Information
Click Tools
Click Direct X Diagnostic Tool
There, you can find out what VC you have, and test out any 3D acceleration you may have.

You have a compond problem based on what I found on Gateways site, your system has an integrated Intel Video card, and an integrated AC97 Audio card and odds are they are just using the base XP drivers which are not the best drivers for running alot of these newer games, what you need to do is get the most current (corrrect) drivers for the Video and Audio for your computer and make sure that they are at least Direct X 8 Compatable.

Evidentally if he is getting this error he doesnt have a 3d accellerator or the drivers are using the Windows generic... you could try setting the game to use software accelleration though this will degrade system performance drastically...
