By not shoving their lifestyle choice down other people's throats, marching in parades dressed as perverts, being bigoted against Christians for peaching against sin and demanding special rights for their deviant behaviour?

Hmmm. Sounds like you'd prefer all LGBT people just climbed back in the closet. Maybe taking the religion out of politics and granting equal rights would go a long ways towards that objective of yours -- that's what the demonstrations are about in case you've yet to catch a clue. Many LGTB people are Christian and what you're complaining about is the backlash to unchristian "bigotry" that uses the Bible as a crutch to justify hating and judging those who are different. Most LGTB people don't share their sexuality with others, but I guess if you call placing a picture of a partner on the desk or two people holding hands a display shoved down your throats, perhaps you should observe heterosexuality behavior. Oh, and most definitely, more straight people dress provocatively than lesbians or gays.

In what ways are gay people "shoving their lifestyle" down someone's throat? Cause I"ll bet it's not NEARLY as bad as having heterosexuality shoved down my throat nonstop, 8 days a week since birth.

I'll agree with you that some parades go too far. The one in my city is still pretty tasteful though. Besides: I don't judge straight people based on videos from Mardi Gras. Try to think about it in those terms; you're seeing people celebrating, often excessively. It's not representative of how the whole community acts all the time.

I'm not bigoted against Christians. I do think, though, that your religion has no place in MY law. If you stay over there in your corner, I'll stay over here in mine.

How about all of YOUR special heterosexual rights get taken away. All we want is equality. Right now, yes, we want the SAME special rights that everyone else has.

I would imagine that simply being homosexual and living openly as gay is "shoving their lifestyle down your throat." Is someone trying to force their homosexuality on you? If so, call the police - otherwise what the hell do you care? You're certainly free to change the channel if it's TV that's bothering you or did you lose your remote? I know when those annoying preachers whining for money come on I find my remote pretty quickly.

And oh those horrible horrible parades. They are almost as offensive as our American kids losing every moral they were ever taught at Spring Break - or showing their breasts for beads at Mardi Gras. And don't forget - what happens in Vegas STAYS in Vegas lol. There's some upstanding heterosexuals for you!

The funniest part though is you accusing THEM of being bigots for not wanting to endure self-righteous hypocrites telling them they're going to hell and being so full of themselves they think they speak for God. I've read the Bible and friend, Jesus really didn't have anything good to say about folks like yourself. You are exactly the sort of person who is giving Christianity a very bad name. Attend to the log in your own eye, it's growing some very ugly branches.

No special rights either, that's three strikes for you, you're out. Marriage is a civil matter in this country - it is only religious if the couple chooses to make it so. Back in the 1960's your fundie religious predecessors used the Bible to support bigotry and wildly protest interracial marriage and desegregation. Same lame arguments, same expectations that this country would suddenly turn into a theocracy and support your prejudices. One of the upshots was that the USSC brought forth a decision that marriage is a civil right for all Americans - and they didn't specify just for heterosexuals. So wanting the same civil rights as your neighbors hardly qualifies as wanting special rights.

Wishing you a speedy recovery from all that poisons your mind.

Neil Patrick Harris is a staggering social gathering. How about David Hyde Pierce whose personality Niles Crane chased Daphne for years on Frasier? Or John Mahoney who performed his father and oftentimes had romantic relationships with females on the educate. Or Dan Butler as events guy Bulldog (also on Frasier), whose personality turned right into a finished womanizer. All 3 actors are openly gay.

I think those suggestions are just a start. Acceptance is an individual thing. One person may be able to, over time and some never will. As a person who is not accepting of the male who goes out of his way to act and dress as a female and talk in a boyish, feminine voice, these persons irritate me more that the idea that this person practices deviant sexual acts. As a matter of fact, i don't care about the acts, because that's between them and God. But, it is insulting to a woman for a man who acts in such a manner to imply that women hold their hands in limp way, walk with their chests stuck out, etc. I have wondered why Gay persons want others to accept them as people, yet go out of their way to be catagorized as "GAY". For example, Chicago held the Gay Games. Why not just refer to it as the Chicago Olympics? Or what about Gay Pride? Why not another more subtle name? They "GAYS" want it both ways. One moment don't refer to them as gays, see them as people. And in the next, a flashing sign says "GAYS...!" This country (US) was founded on the morals and principles of heterosexual realtionships as well as the Holy Bible. Its kinda hard for many years of such a strong foundation to change its very basic principles. Remember, its gays that are the "deviant" of this society. Its going to take much at a slower pace to gain popularty and favor.

imagine:

people continuously say you're wrong, sick, immoral. No one really listens to you and if they do they mock you because you like the same sex. You're viewed as different, considered a perverts and sinners and people claim that we have "deviant behaviour"

WELCOME TO OUR LIFE

how can straight people become better accepted of gay people? we try and try to fit in. I am a good person, I do volunteer work, I treat others the way I expect to be treated and hell I always get used, abused and insulted for no reason other than the fact that I'm gay. Now, what's with that? I'm not a pervert - I don't prey on children, i do not have a mental disorder, just annoyance with homophobics. We parade to be heard. We are simply protesting because the way we are treated is pathetic and shouldn't be happening. I'm sure you're aware of the sucess of protests... no one pays attention to the quiet person standing in the background. people listen to people making noise. I see it's caught your attention... now all you have to do is look at it from our point of view. God knows I've seen it from your point and hating people you don't even know about a reason you don't know about? that seems sad in itself, so before you attack us with your inexcuseable tone think about the people you're hurting because as it turns out you're the one sinning because you're the one judging people when it's only God who can judge people. Oh, and by the way, I'm Christian myself and I'm sick and tired of people who cannot accept the fact that we're people too and i've made up my mind... I will be reporting your question, it has clearly offended me, and God help you if you ever hurt yourself and i'm the only one near you, because after your question i'm not quite so sure if i'd stop to help you, and anyone who knows me will know that that is not like me.

The question you really need to be asking is 'how can straights become better accepted by gay people?', because we are going to take over this world, and all you straights will have to bow down to us. Next, we're going to deny you the right to marry members of the opposite sex. We're going to deny you the right to adopt needy and parentless kids that may need you. Then, we're going to glare at you guys up everytime you hold hands or kiss in public. Also, we will constantly accuse you of having sex with children and animals. Lastly, but most definitely not least, we will constantly tell you that you're going to hell because we have spoken personally to God, and he has said that gay is in and straight is not right anymore.

If you failed to see the sarcasm above, then you really, truly do need serious help.

you are a stereotypical scinic. we don't shove our lifestyle down others' throats. it is not a choice. we are not bigoted against christians. there are at least 2 instances of same-sex marriage in the bible. David and Jonathan and Ruth and Naomi. We also don't want special rights. We want EQUAL rights. We are also not perverts. Read "Is It a Choice" by Eric Marcus. In a study of 11 years, 387 child molesters were registered. Less than 1% of them were homosexual. There is only one well-known homosexual predator and that was Ottis Toole, who killed Adam Walsh. Do your research, you ignorant fool.

Oh, you're such a supportive person. I wish you were my neighbor, asshole. If we never came out of the closets and marched and demanded our civil rights we'd be worse off than African Americans 100 years ago. It's really tough that the bumper thumpers don't like us, because they keep making more of us. (no birth control) LOL
to no nickname, are you completely stupid or just today- the world would never 'become' completely gay. gees, what an idiot!!!

I really have no definite answer. Stay "hidden" perhaps.
I can cite a case where my late darling Gwen and I were working. We could not stand the lunch room because of the smokers. Returning one day we heard a smart young thing say "Oh here come the SPINSTERS, couldn't get a man to save themselves!" Gwen smiled at me and asked "Well fellow spinster, are we as one? " No need to reply and the smart one subsided.
