Truly, why do people own these?

My friend had a tarantula that he picked up from the desert. He actually had it a while and pretty soon the tarantula started responding to him. He actually liked it when he would pet him and it rode around on his shoulder.
Freaked me out, though, because I am an arachnophobic!

Because they are idiots and dont mind the risk of it escaping and poisoning them in their sleep.....people who own tarantulas as pets need to get some new friends.
even if they are defanged, they are pointless. getr a dog instead. Tarantulas can't do tricks, obey you, play fetch, or love you. they are meant to be killers in the wild.

no, tarantulas can harm you as they are very dangerous spiders but if u have a way with them then u can take them as a pet.

Are you kidding?! They make awesome pets! They're quiet, easy to clean up after & take care of... AND, if you put their tank in front of a window- you'll NEVER have to worry about anyone breaking in!

Well they wanna keep pets that are kind different from dogs, cats, hamsters or any normal pets because they wanna show their unique individuality

Don't know why, but used to know a guy who had one. Fed it crickets. He'd take it out, let it crawl on himself and any friends who would let it. Didn't know any tricks, but seemed friendly enough.

u know, tarantulas cant kill humans with their venom. u still get a reaction, cant remember wut , but it cant kill u
