Im 27, I have 3 kids,10,4,and 6 months and I am terrified to drive! Before the baby I did not mind bussing it everywhere but now I have to take a car seat and a stroller. The 2 older ones are in different schools and they both play sports. Im tired of being on the bus more than we are at home. I try to take the kids out as much as I can and they love the bus but Im really tired of it. Any tips on how to get over this fear????

fear feeds on it's self, you take a chance everyday just walking outside, yet you have done this all your life and you never thought twice about it, it is scary to be able to drive, the responsibility that you have sitting behind the wheel, always watching for the other person, me personally can not trust a stranger driving me or my family around, and if a emergency came up, sometimes you can not wait for the other person, you may not have time, trust your feelings , be confident and if you need to take a driving class do so, there is nothing wrong about that , learn to be safe and again watch out for the other person

Are you scared of just driving in general or just with the kids? If you're scared to drive altogether then what I would do first is get used to driving with someone else in the car and then when you get used to it, start adding your kids into the process. Sure there's alot to be scared of, but your chances of getting in an accident are very small. The more you drive...the more comfortable you'll get. Just keep pushing yourself to continue driving, and don't let fear stop you. Set an example by not letting fear paralyze you into quitting.

Take a course - learn with someone who is really experienced. When you sign up, tell them so they put you with an excellent instructor. The bottom line though, is that if you can't get comfortable with it, you will never be a good driver, and always be putting your kids in danger, so don't force it. Just take your time, and you'll get there.

Good luck to you!

Perhaps you might want to try out some driving game.. emulation and stuffs to get that fear away?

I find that fear works like this: The more you fear about a certain thing, the more you should do it to get rid of it. The more you do it, the more you will realize how fine it is to do it.

Just stay calm, try it, focus and you can do it :)

Good luck!

try driving in a open space first. parking lot. and so on. Are you scared because your kids are in the car or have you never driven in open traffic? kids change everything, so take it slow. join a drivers ed class. you can get all your questions and experience under supervision. good luck.

Get lessons from a professional driving instructor. It is costly but well worth it. They will give you the confidence to drive.

Get your license, and the anxiety you feel over being an unlicensed driver will go away.
