It may be comforting to you to know that most people do not have a lot of friends that they can hang out with.
Probably the best way to acquire friends is to share your interests with others. If you like stamp collecting, attend stamp collecting club meetings at the library.
Check out special interest groups on the web. Consider what you enjoy.
If you are a video game addict you will need to do some really radical things like go to AA meetings and fake being an alcoholic until you get a sponsor and meet friends at meetings.
The easiest way to become a friend is buy a Harley Davidson, join the local Harley Owner's Group, also known as HOG, and participate in all their activities. If you can't make friends, at least you can buy your way into a club, wear the colors, and pose.
Finally, you might try a Dale Carnegie course. They are really helpful.
Good luck.

I'm shy too.....I live in a small town so......When i do try and make friends their nothing like me...So we never get along. Like my last friend i liked but she started getting violent and annoying and she was not interested in like anything that i am interested in. It's been really hard trying to make friends. I can't find anyone that's like me and the same age. My mom's always said it's better to have no friends then friends that aren't good people. *Sigh*

Be confident in everything you do. Go out and socialize with people, meet new neighbours, say hello to passing people, join a club of some sort. Meet friends of family. Someone is definietly out there to befriend you. If you seek, then you will find friendship.

most often the reason why a person is so shy is because they do not believe that they have the traits worthy of recognition... if u want to have friends, i suggest you start by being friendly with yourself.. u have to start believing that you are unique and special... have faith that you are somebody worth having as a friend... i know its not easy but soon people will notice the difference because people who are happy within themselves have that so-called glow.. and people who glows do no look for friends but friends find them..

IT SEEMS THAT YOU ARE A PERSON WHO IS USUALLY IN THE PERIPHERY, RATHER THAN THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. THE BEST THING TO DO IS FIND SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS ALSO IN THE PERIPHERY AND APPROACH HIM/HER BY INTRODUCING YOURSELF AND TALKING ABOUT COMMON THINGS THAT BOTH OF YOU LIKE....AFTER MEETING WITH 'EM, ASK IF S/HE WANTS TO DO SOME SORT OF ACTIVITY {MOVIE, SKATING, WHATEVER FLOATS UR BOAT}. YOU JUST GO FROM THERE. YOU HAVE TO SHOW A LITTLE BOLDNESS AND INITIATE.

First you remove your shyness. Then only you are able to make a good person as a friend. It is my hope.
