the name brand is "tool shop" and i have just bought it a few days ago and it worked fine.

The internal belt probably slipped off. Take it back, it should still be under warranty

sounds like the blade is dull
your motor is wearing already
its a POS
either way i would run it back to the store and see what they say.

Sounds to me like the blade is loose. See if there's a nut or bolt where you can tighten it.

It's probably a cog belt and the cogs have broke off .a new belt is the fix ,a better quality belt should be sought. or get lots of back-up belts.

You might be trying to cut too think or hard a piece of wood with the saw.
Is it a smaller table-top model?
