I believe so, absolutely.
Doesn't that whole hell concept make God a bully? Isn't that in fact saying to a child. "We serve God not because it is the right thing to do, or because we love God, we do it because we fear punishment, we fear burning in an eternal fire. (or) I am your parent, so do what I say, not because you love and respect me, but because if you don't I will abuse you terribly".

There is a way to let a child know about hell just as there is a way to let him/her know something is hot or cold without putting their hand in the flame/ice.
Hell is not a concept, it is a fact!!! And if the child is being raised right, it is not abuse.
If a child is told about heaven and hell, don't you think they will chose to do right, so they will go to heaven. And if they do a little something wrong, they know there is forgiveness so they will still get to heaven.
In our church, children are taught right from wrong and the love of God and Jesus.
At an older age, they are taught about hell and satan. Not at a young age that could have them having nightmares. After they are a certain age, then they are taught about hell (neverending burning with fire and brimstone), sin, satan, demons, etc.

"Hello -.-. If one invokes the concept of hell, without assigning any condition or threat to it, there is no abuse. Of course, my immediate impression is that your question implied that the introduction was threatening behavior from an adult onto a child. Yes, that would be a gross injustice upon a young person who may or may not have the cognitive facilities to appreciate the difference between good and bad, and the religious punishments incurred for those behaviors. Anyone will be safe in their endeavor to explain hell as a place opposing heaven, but, exclusions must be made against ill will and punishments until the child matures adequately to comprehend the religiousity the claims imply."

I never thought that this would be a form of abuse especially if children are also taught about God and Jesus. The way that he is presented in the new testament as a loving and forgiving God. I learned about hell at a young age. Granted yes i did think about being saved because i was afraid of going to hell but i actually didn't go through with it until i went to a church that taught the message of God as being loving and forgiving.

If you are asking about a discussion, no it is simply information, probably incorrect information, but information. If you are suggesting taking a young child into a room and there scaring the child with people in masks and yelling, etc... then this would be abuse, stupid, and neurotic.

One hell is simply being on this plane, being here is hardly abusive... given the purpose. The hell most people are referring to, although their reference is to a fancied symbolic idea of hell, lies within the Astral region, and it is where a Soul [with its MIND] goes for reorientation after death and judgment... when ones life has been particularly negative. Ones stay in such a hell can be a matter of years, or centuries... depending upon ones need for reorientation. One shutters at the time Hitler had to spend in his hell.

yes, yes it is, why would you want to scare the hell out of your child. Its bad enough that if you yell at your kid these days, that's a form of child abuse and someone can call the cops on you and you can lose you kid. Isn't that retarded that almost anything you say or do to your kid is a form of abuse!!!

It depends on how you do it. Children often learn respect through fear because they lack the capacities and the experience to learn in other ways.

When you look at it from the perspective of abuse the issue is not the concept of hell but how someone is trying to control or manipulate such a small child.

Yes. It is. God says that there is an age of accountability. By invoking this at a young age you will inflict nightmares, and psychological distress and possible PTSD. I should know. It happened to me. Now I am messianic jew/agnostic at the same time. I am permenantly damaged even as an adult.

You didn't say how old the child is so I will assume he is under 5. I would have to say it depends on what is being said about hell. Is the child in church? If so I am sure he has heard the word already. I would not say he is being abused unless the parent is threatening the child with hell. Hell is not just a concept but a fact.

i'm sure it would depend on who was telling the child of hell. but if they get the fire and brimstone speech too early, and then later is told he or she is bad, then they could DECIDE that since they are going to hell anyway they might as well do it up right......seen from that perspective, then everyone is the victim of this child's abuse.
