first you need to find out if the fan or fans are bad. the fan on the condenser should kick on when the head pressure on the a/c system builds up. the fan on the radiator should kick on around 208 degrees if the fuses and relays are working properly, other factors that you have to consider are the thermostat, fluid level, old coolant, pressure cap, coolant temperature sensor, loose wire connector, is the radiator and condenser cores clean on the outside allowing maximum air flow through them, since it is a 90's model how much build up is there on the inside of the radiator, you need to do a step by step diagnostic, before buying and replacing, it might save you some money

you car may overheat if the fans sesnor no longer kick i nthe fans at the approiate time, you can hotwire the fans so they athey are always on until you get a new tyhermal sensor, they will only be only and running full tilt only when the ignition is on and running.
also some have a clutch for enagement, if the fan clutch wear the fan will not spin at proper rpm due to non lock up of the fan clutch
