Some join because they have no work prospects, which is understandable. Shrub has so screwed up the US economy that the US military wages actually look good.

Some join because "everyone in our family did". Tradition is a stupid reason to do something, but I can at least understand why someone would want to do that.

Some join because they actually agree with Shrub and believe the lies. They're blatantly ignorant, but at least they're putting their money where their mouth is, which is more than can be said for the chickenhawks who criticized your question.

But the ones I have the most contempt for are those who don't bother to be informed or have an opinion, those who just blindly believe what is told to them. Those who think the US was a "victim" on 9/11 or that the imperialism and terrorism the US is practicing against civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan is not about oil, well, they deserve what they get if their leg is blown off or they lose their eyes to shrapnel.

Those in the US military working in Iraq and Afghanistan are not "soldiers defending their country", they are disposable meat sent to further the policies of multinational oil corporations.

Nope, not me, not today, I joined three years ago. But you know what you wouldn't say it was stupid if you had half the kahunas to sign up and defend your country like the men and women that already have made the choice to do so. I've got friends in basic, family and friends in Iraq, know people that have died in Iraq and have been to Vietnam. I have alot of respect for these people so to the men and women in the service excellent job. I've done a tour in Iraq myself. This doesn't mean I agree all the things Bush has done but I will stand behind him and the U.S.A on every decision. So make a choice sing the line or don't talk crap.

Even if I don't agree with your "stupid enough" tag, you have the right to express that opinion because of literally MILLIONS of men and women that have stepped up to defend that right, and others.

Hundreds of folks sign up every day. Thank God there are folks who still are willing to defend their country. If you don't want to fight, then nobody says you have to join.....but do NOT make fun of people who wish to serve their country. It just makes YOU look stupid.
